Started in 2014, BARC is situated in the heart of the East Rand, Northmead Benoni. From here we have a charity shop where donations of all unwanted items are appreciated. Funds generated from our shop helps us buy food, pay vet bills, and look after the animals in our care.
BARC is a registered Non-profit organisation (NPO: 158-644) as well as a registered Public benefit organisation (PBO: 930056533).
BARC runs an outreach program in Barcelona Daveyton every Wednesday. Sterilization, education and cruelty prevention is our greatest mission! We feed approximately 150+ animals each week, we also provide leads and collars, and veterinary assistance for the sick and injured. Our aim is to sterilize as many animals as possible. Without donations from the public and corporate sponsors, this would not be possible. To view more of our outreach program, please watch this video below.
BARC facilitates adoptions of cats and dogs, from puppies / kittens to adults looking for their fur-ever homes. We do strict home inspections, to ensure the fur children go to the best possible homes.
As a Registered NPO we rely heavily on the publics donations to allow us to keep on
with our weekly outreach programmes helping those who cannot afford to care for their animals.
BARC continues to assist pet owners every week with food and basic care, as well as bringing sick animals that require veterinary care in to our amazing vets for treatment.
Every week we are seeing more and more people who need assistance, so we are appealing for donations of dry and wet/tinned food to meet the ever growing need.
Pet owners continue to ask for blankets and jackets to keep their animals warm. Every week we have been trying to hand out over 40 blankets to try and help these animals, however, there are still so many in need of assistance.
Another big demand is for collars - as many of these animals arrive with 'make-shift' collars and leashes in the form of wire, rope or even shoe-laces.
We are making an appeal for any donation of collars or even old leather belts that can be converted into collars, as well as blankets.
If you can help, please drop your donation off at our Charity Shop:
42-4th Street, Northmead.
